December!

Wow, December 1st! Time for me to put up my lights and decorate the house for Christmas. Today is going to be a sunny day and a good day to get outside and string the lights around my windows. I will have to dress warm because it is very cold outside.

Above images are of some hoops that I made this week while snuggled in my studio. Pretty little turquoise and green stones hang from  heavy gauge steel wire that I hammered for texture. These earrings and many others are available for sale in my Etsy store.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! I am very happy indeed because I got my piece for the provincial Arts and Letters Awards finished and delivered as of this morning. I listened to Christmas carols while driving through the snow to get my work in on time. :)

This weekend I will be working on a painted, wooden advent calender for my niece, Sarah. I made one for my children years ago and my other nieces and nephews. I have to draw the pattern onto a piece of pine and cut it out with my scroll saw. Then I begin the fun part of painting and varnishing the calender. I will post a photo when I am done.

My daughter will be home in two weeks and I'm so excited! Christmas will begin for me when she returns.

Have a great weekend!

I Love Red!

We had our first big snowfall of the season last night! It makes everything so Christmassy when there is snow on the ground. I do love it! Although I had to snow blow the driveway this morning, the fresh air and exercise were welcome.

Steel Wire!

I love working with heavy gauge steel wire! I actually forgot how much until yesterday. Hammering the wire is a good way to get your frustrations out, if you have any, which I don't. I love the earthiness of the hammered wire and am going to make more jewelry using it.

New Earrings!

Doing renovations on the house always keeps me away from my studio and my blog. I can't seem to focus on doing both at the same time. When I am in renovation mode I can't be in creating mode. This week I'm back in the studio and very happy about it. I have deadlines to meet, orders to make and Christmas presents to create.

Eggnog is back on the shelves again for another holiday season and I've been drinking lots of coffee with the creamy, yummy goodness added to it. If you haven't tried it, you really should. :)

Randoms!

Here are the pretty fabric flags I made for the windows in my studio to brighten it up during the darker days of winter. The white mini lights make it inviting and cozy and their warmth welcome me in every day.
My sweet daughter, Rebecca, and my niece, Sarah. Rebecca is leaving for Istanbul on Wednesday for five weeks. I'm going to miss her so much. She has a quirky sense of humour and she makes me laugh often.
Gennie and Ricki keep me company while I work on my rug which I finished shortly after I took this photo. I will post a picture of it tomorrow. Next knitting group I will be learning how to crochet a rug using flannel fabric strips. Looking forward to Wednesday night.
I saw this beauty today, and many others like it, as I left the bank. I had to stop for a photo. The colors are brilliant and were stunning to see on a foggy, rainy morning. Nature is the most amazing artist!

I had a very busy and excellent weekend. Renovations on the inside of the house and yard work on the outside filled my days. I look forward to having everything done so I can concentrate on my painting. I started a drawing for a painting last week and I haven't had a chance to work on it yet. Jewelry orders keep me busy in the studio and I'm putting the finishing touches on a doll I plan on submitting to a magazine.

Exciting news! Starbucks has their Christmas beverages on the menu again. I happily discovered this while at Chapters the other night. I've had two eggnog lattes already. Drinking a yummy holiday drink while browsing the books and magazines is one of my favorite things to do.

I hope everyone enjoyed their evening last night! We had three groups of trick or treaters knock on our door last night. That means that the left over treats will have to be eaten by me and my family, which happens every year. I always buy too much thinking that the year I don't buy much will be the year that I get a lot of knocks on the door. Never happens. :)

The above images are of copper wrapped 8mm bronze colored pearls. I will be listing these sweet little earrings in my Etsy store shortly.

Happy All Hallow's Eve!

It's All Hallow's Eve, the day when the veil between our world and the spirit world is at its thinnest. So make sure you have lots of treats to give to the little spirits to keep them from coming into your house tonight and snatching your souls. :)

Here are some photos of the hooked rug that I said I would post to show you what I am working on.  I meet every Wednesday night at The Rooms with others to knit, hook, crochet or spin wool. I really look forward to these nights when we all sit around and work on our individual projects. Of course, there is lots of chatting and laughter as well. There is also a Tuesday night knitting group at Rocket Bakery in historic downtown St. John's where you can eat yummies and drink delicious beverages while you work.

Another couple of weeks and I should be finished and I'll have a warm comfy rug to stand on while I do my dishes. Lol!

Ricki, my sweet little kitty, had to plop herself down to take her bath as soon as I laid the rug on the floor to photograph. How cat-like of her.
